About

I’m a UK based, self-taught artist.  I find the artistic process is like a form of meditation; helping me to slow down, gaze deeply and notice a hidden transcendent echo concealed within the ordinary.   As a former clinical psychologist, I am drawn to explore our relationship within ourselves, with others and the world around - and the contrasts between “the stories we live and the stories we tell.” I love working in monochrome with Indian ink as well as the atmospheric effects charcoal can bring. Recently I’ve found myself really compelled by colour and movement and am on a journey with acrylics, watercolour and pastels. On top of this I have got really excited about home printing using recycled materials such as tetrapaks. So life is extremely varied at the moment and I can’t wait to see where 2024 will take me!

The old adage goes, a picture can be worth a thousand words. Sometimes though perhaps there is often a source of inspiration, a backstory to an images and in my case, there are often a number of different threads or musing which have led to a piece. I have written brief summaries to most of these pieces describing in more detail how they have arrived at where they are. Please do get in touch if you are intrigued or curious about a particular image, and I can email you the background information if you would enjoy that. Some of the originals and some prints are also available so please do get in touch if you are interested.
